2010 Chicago Cubs Convention Sells Out in Fifteen Minutes

It’s never too early to get your hopes up

Who You Calling Delusional?

Last year at this time I was reporting about how the Chicago Cubs disappointing end to the 2008 season hadn’t stopped the hardcore Cubs faithful from selling out the 2008 Cubs Convention tickets in 24 minutes.

Well history repeats itself and then some: despite a disappointing 2009 season where the Cubs finished meakly in second place with 83 wins, the Delusional Cubs Fans have sold out all tickets to the 2010 Cubs Convention in only 15 minutes!

That’s right, the Cubs had an even worse season but Cubs Convention tickets SOLD OUT EVEN FASTER.

For those of you that may not understand the loyalty of Chicago Cubs fans, please reread the previous sentence.

And once again, here’s to you my delusional friends! You’re loyalty will one day be rewarded.

What is the Cubs Convention? It’s only the biggest gathering of Hardcore Delusional Cubs Fans that you will ever encounter.  Sure there may be more fans at Wrigley Field home games, but at the annual Cubs Convention we’re talking about the diehard fans.  What kind of person would pay $60 to meet the team after a year of Milton Bradley and failing to hit with runners in scoring position?  Diehard, Delusional Cubs fans, that’s who!  If you go to the convention you have access to autograph sessions and photos sessions with the past and present Cubs players.  There will be vendors, merchandise booths, collectibles.  There will be the always popular question and answer sessions with players and management including Lou Pinella and Jim Hendry.  The ones with Jim Hendry could possibly degenerate into yelling sessions.  All weekend you’ll have the opportunity to meet the Cubs players and hall of fame legends. You will be among only the most hardcore Chicago Cubs fans anywhere.

What Cubs Players Will Be There? The Cubs attendees for the 2010 convention have not been announced yet.  It’s practically guaranteed that Mr Cub Ernie Banks will be there, as will Cubs manager Lou Pinella and general manager Jim Hendry.  You’re likely to see Cubs players such as Derrek Lee, Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Zambrano.  And I have to think that the Cubs new owners the Ricketts family will want to greet the fans as well.

Beyond that, I can’t say yet who will be there but take a look at past attendees:
