Chicago Cubs 2009 Draft Picks

The 2009 MLB Amateur Draft is over and the Chicago Cubs have drafted 50 players to add to the minor league development system.

The Cubs 2009 #1 draft pick was Brett Jackson and he’s a well regarded prospect but what about everybody else?  You never know where the stars are going to come from.

Guys in the lower rounds have just as much chance to succeed as the top picks do, who frequently don’t ever pan out(especially for the Cubs).  Good players can come from later rounds, including current Cubs players Randy Wells, Ryan Theriot and Geovany Soto.  Past Cubs lower round stars include Mark Grace and Ryne Sandberg(drafted by Phillies).  You just never know where the future stars will come from….
