Chicago Cubs Cornhole Game
It took me a little while to find it but I may just have the final piece you need for your backyard bbq a total success. It’s the Chicago Cubs cornhole game!
Cornhole is a classic mid-western outdoor and picnic game that you’re sure to see during your summers here. (Also commonly referred to as “bags”, “bean bag toss” and other names)
I’m not sure how saturated it is in the rest of the country but I know that my east coast friends claim to have never seen or heard of it before they moved to Chicagoland. Supposedly it was invented in the midwest although it’s history is hard to trace. Places which claim to have invented cornhole include Champaign, IL, Cincinnati, OH and the entire state of Kentucky.
That doesn’t really matter; what does matter is that it’s a hell of a lot of fun to play. All you need is a sunny afternoon and at least one other person and you’re set. I see people playing it in sidewalks and parking lots, so unlike horseshoes or bacci ball, you don’t even need a yard to play.
Cornhole perfectly compliments a summer BBQ because the skill level required to play is minimal, making it fun to play for both the young and old, male and female, athletic or not. Your skills will also not be seriously diminished by all those burgers and beers you consume during the course of a day. Perfection!
