Karil, I'll use that infamous expression, "I feel your pain". It's not easy to come up with good reasons for you to stay a fan right now. If you want to give up the dream and say good riddance to this team, that's a choice you can make and you probably won't be alone. Me, I just can't do it.

I've got a lot of happy Cubs memories. I remember playing baseball when I was a kid and pretending I was a Cub. I remember cheering for Buckner, Ryno, Andre, Grace, Sammy, Prior, Lee, Big and so many more. I've also got a lot of painful ones. I still hurt over 2003, and that was five years ago now. I almost gave up on the Cubs then. In fact I did, but I just couldn't stay away and I was back on board by the middle of 2004. And guess what, they disappointed me again that very year. And then in 2007. And then in 2008.

But I'm resigned to the fact that I'm in this for life. I Bleed Cubbie Blue and I just can't change that. I still hold on to a little hope, just like I did in game 3 this year, all the way into the 7th inning.

Maybe next year will be the year. Probably not, and I won't get my hopes up so much in 2009, even if they win a 100 games and dominate the regular season. This years division series was a much needed reality check. They're still the Cubs.

But what if next year was the year? Wouldn't you feel like a chump if you missed that exciting season when it happens? Wouldn't you feel like a hypocrite by jumping on the bandwagon if they finally went to the World Series?

I don't know really. Maybe you're right. I'm disappointed. I'm depressed. I'm ANGRY. I've thought about dumping the Cubs, believe me. I just can't do it. I won't do it.

Hope springs eternal. I hope you're back on board with us when the trees start to get their buds and the temperatures start to rise. I'll be here, the Cubs will be here, and another summer in Wrigley will be waiting. Join us, won't you?

Please help me start a Campaign to send the Cubs a message that this was the last straw. I want to get a ton of cubs fans to "mail it back" that is, start mailing back their cubs paraFANalia to Wrigley field, to send the message, we are DONE!
