Chicago Cubs Starting Rotation on Opening Day 2009
#38 – Carlos Zambrano – Right Handed Starting Pitcher
#46 – Ryan Dempster – Right Handed Starting Pitcher
#40 – Rich Harden – Right Handed Starting Pitcher
#30 – Ted Lilly – Left Handed Starting Pitcher
#45 – Sean Marshall – Left Handed Starting Pitcher
UPDATE - As the season rolled on and Zambrano and Harden found themselves missing games due to injury (and suspension for Big Z) the Cubs called up little known start Randy Wells from AAA Iowa. Randy Wells pitched great as a starter from his very first game, and never looked back. Sean Marshall was moved to the bullpen where he was badly needed as the lefty specialist and Randy Wells remained the Cubs #5 starter for the rest of 2009.
