Early 2010 Season Schedule Favors the Cubs

We should see lots of Cubs W’s flying over the scoreboard in April (photo)

So after a horrible 2010 opening day loss and poor start to Year One, some of my fellow Chicago Cubs fans could use something to be optimistic about.

Hopefully now that the emotions from that loss have cooled off, those distraught fans have already realized that one game does not a season make, especially when there are still 161 games to go.  Unfortunately, some Cubs fans have come to expect the worst.

Well here is your best reason to be optimistic:  The Chicago Cubs 2010 Schedule for the month of April and start of may is soft.  I mean SOFT as in the Cubs will not play a team that had a winning record in 2009 for 29 straight games. That stretch will include 10 games in a row against last place finishers the Nationals, Diamondbacks and Pirates.

The schedule favors the Cubs although there are no guarantees of course.  The Cubs beat up on the poor teams last season, which is what good teams are supposed to do.  We may not know how good the Cubs really are until the end of May, which is the first series against the St Louis Cardinals but we should know how bad they aren’t.

If the Cubs can’t play a bunch of games against the Nationals and Pirates (nine games alone against those two perennially losing teams), THEN you can worry.

But I don’t think you’ll need to worry.

THIS IS THE YEAR!
