I’m Patting Myself on the Back to Celebrate Post Number 100

This My 100th Post and Every Single One of Them Has Been Awesome

Hey Cubs Fans, I encourage you to crack open an ice cold one and celebrate my 100th post at the DelusionalCubsFan.com.  You can bet that’s what I’m doing right now.

Two years ago I had a dream.  I had a dream that the Cubs would win the World Series.  Today that dream has still not come true (yet!) but I still have my blog that I created to celebrate that historic season.  When I told my wife that I would be starting a Cubs blog because THIS IS THE YEAR! she told me, “Oh honey, you’re delusional”.  Thus this blog name was born.  And yes, I am delusional.

But, but, but, THIS could still be the year!  Why not?  It’s already June and the Cubs, in spite of their best efforts to implode, still find themselves within striking distance of first place.  The starting pitching has been solid.  The bullpen is improved.  Once the hitting comes around…. this team will destroy the rest of the Central Division!  Remember, this is the same team who had the best record in all of baseball from June 2007 on.  It’s the same team that dominated the National League in 2008.

Now they’ve got a chip on their shoulder.  They’ve also got players WITH chips on their shoulders: Milton Bradley, Carlos Zambrano and Ted Lilly.  They’ve got a manager who hates to lose.  The Cubs are loaded with talent.  Get ready fans, because This Is The Year!

If I wasn’t Delusional, I wouldn’t be a Cubs fan.

Has the Delusional Cubs Fan Blog Been a Success?

Hey, it’s still here, so yes, it’s a success.  Most blogs disappear after their first month.  It’s a pain in the ass to keep blogging!  It’s easy to give up.  But like that symbol of never giving up Bobby Scales, I kept going.  At the start of the 2009 season the Delusional Cubs Fan was even promoted to AA by The College of Idiots.  Not bad for a second year player!  I don’t ever expect to be Bleed Cubbie Blue and I’m not trying to be.  There’s a million Cubs blogs and at least half of them are better than mine.  I could get sent down at any moment, but like Randy Wells, I’m taking it game by game and just happy to be here.

The Top Posts

As of June 2, 2009, here are the all time most popular posts I’ve written at the Delusional Cubs Fan.  I owe all this success to the generosity of Google and their search results because I sure don’t have any publicity or following.

The Chicago Cubs Theme Song – Go Cubs Go - Everybody freaking loves this song!  And many, many people have stopped by to read the story of Steve Goodman and this Chicago Cubs #1 smash.

A Tribute to Chicago Cubs Neon Signs – This is also one of my favorite all time posts because it was so much fun doing “research” for this project.  By research I mean going to dozens of bars to take photos.

The 2009 Cubs Convention Sells Out in 24 Minutes – This is when I knew that I was not the only delusional Cubs fan, or at least not the most delusional.  After the way 2008 ended, every one of these ticket buyers have me beat.

Chicago Cubs Fan Cemetery – This post became very popular very quickly and it’s not surprising.  The existence of this cemetery is even MORE proof you and I are not the most delusional Cubs fans.  But maybe just maybe we can make it to that level some day.

Chicago Cubs Finish 2008 Season with a 97-64 Record – Boy were we happy at the time this post was written.  Once week later when the Cubs crashed and burned in the playoffs, not so much.
