Mr T Sings Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Mr T Sings Take Me Out to the Ballgame at Wrigley Field Video

Mr T Celebrity Seventh Inning Stretch

On Memorial Day, May 25th 2009, Mr T threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field and was the guest conductor of the 7th inning stretch.  During the 7th inning he sang a now instant classic version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame“.

Mr T is a Chicago native and is well known not just for his appearances in TV’s and movies but as a community fundraiser who tries to help out local causes, especially ones to try and help out disadvantaged or troubled youth.  He may always play a tough guy on TV but in reality he’s a very friendly, modest and upstanding guy.

Mr T grew up in the projects and says he always tries to set a good example, stay out of “Hollywood troubles” and not disappoint the people who look up to him.  Now that I think of it, there’s not a single scandal you can attach to him in all his years as a celebrity.  He spent a lot of time in the stands signing autographs and taking photos with everyone who asked.

But can Mr T sing?  Well…. you be the judge.  It may not be an American Idol finals worthy appearance but he did okay.  I mean, you have to have lower expectations for people who aren’t actually singers.  The seventh inning stretch is all about having fun at Wrigley Field.  Still, he’s already been mentioned as one of the more “memorable” performers of Take Me Out to the ballgame, to put it nicely.

A lot of celebrities don’t fare too well at this but that’s okay.  Mostly I just ask that you at least know the words to the song!  (I’m looking at you Denise Richards)  So Mr T filled that qualification and he’s always fun to get in front of the cameras.  Everyone that met him left with a smile on their face so what more can you ask for?  I thought he did a great job and I was singling along at home.

GO CUBS!!!
